CareerEdge's Eavey Presents to Florida State Senate

December 5th, 2011 11:36am

On November 1st CareerEdge Funder’s Collaborative of Manatee-Sarasota launched a major public policy initiative by presenting to Florida State Senators. The tone of this meeting was leaders looking for answers as they boldly continue to push our Workforce Boards to provide solutions to the ever-growing challenges produced by harsh economic conditions. Florida Governor Rick Scott is pushing the issue of workforce and challenging the state from the top down to reevaluate their model and do whatever is necessary to get the system back on track. CareerEdge was invited to the meeting so that our approach could be evaluated as a potential model for change. The workforce system in Florida isn’t functioning and our governing body has been in search of answers on how to create a sustainable model that can improve or revise the system. CareerEdge Executive Director Mireya Eavey is fearlessly working to challenge the workforce system in Florida as she continues to showcase our model as the key to making the significant impact needed to budge these atrocious unemployment numbers.
